The power of words and pictures

Writing became my full-time occupation around 1980 when I realised I had reached one of life's crossroads - that stage in your life when you know you must have a complete change but aren't quite sure what you want to do. In my case, I had just ended a long spell in the oil industry and I wanted nothing more to do with the kind of work I was doing. I decided a completely new career was absolutely necessary.

The emerging desktop computer industry gave me that opportunity and opened up a new career path - developing application software then later writing technical manuals and user guides; a natural progression from the in-house magazines I had produced during my time in oil.

A few years later, I decided to write a novel and later turned to publishing, helping other new authors to improve their writing and making it possible for them to achieve their ambitions to be published authors.

In my novel - The Retribution Conspiracy - I based one of the characters on a pretty despicable person I met in the oil industry and that gave me a chance to vent my anger and get him out of my system. My other hobby is photography. I can't claim to be an expert - I just like snapping people and places. You can see the results in My Photo gallery.
